You will have very distinct goals that others will not. However, if you don't feel like swinging your weight in order to cut/bulk, then it is likely not something that you "need" to do. To your question, I don't believe that you will get a uniform answer. So a "clean bulk".) in my off season or between shows to try to fix what it was I felt I was lacking. If I go into that show, realize muscularly I pale in comparison to my competition, I will likely bulk (personally, I am a fan of a clean diet no matter what. If I am prepping for a show, yes, I am going to cut. However, I do cyclically change my diet in order to break plateaus and to derive additional benefits. Bulking for me typically does not entail the same level of food ingestion as others because my body will fluctuate very quickly making it more difficult for me to see what my actual muscle gains are. I personally, have traits that are very much endomorph-like (not trying to say somatotypes are rigid things that should dictate your dieting/exercise). I believe you'll find that this is a question that is entirely dependent on the person and the goal that they have.
